Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Tour de Buzz at Elite Cycling on Saturday, February 11th. We had some great performances throughout the day.
For the second year John Arneson is our Men's Winner. He increased his power by 13 watts and went .3 miles further than last year. Way to go John!
We have a new winner in the Women's race, Annie Altorfer took it out with a very strong performance! Our winners will both be wearing new items from lululemon in Leawood the next time you see them. Big thank you to lululemon for providing our prizes this year.
Also wanted to thank Josie Palmerin and KC Multisport for all the support once again.
Finally, of course, we couldn't host the Tour de Buzz without the cooperation of Jeff Williams and the staff of Elite Cycling, thank you for putting up with the loud music all day!
If you have any comments or feedback (good or bad) please let me know. We'd like to do the Tour de Buzz again in 2018 but it only gets better with your input.

Had the opportunity to be part of a story about the Ironman and triathlon training in general.
Don't really agree with David Neiman's assessment that only "rare genetically gifted specimens" should attempt to do the Ironman. I am, however, often amazed and disappointed to see people who don't respect the race and show up at an Ironman uninformed and dramatically un-prepared. I feel that a lack of training is a bigger problem for more people on an Ironman start list than over-training syndrome.

Thank you to everyone that participated in the 2nd Annual Tour de Buzz on Saturday, Feb 20 at Elite Cycling. It was great to have you involved.
The results below need three explanations -
* - Michael Herrman's rear brake started rubbing about 1/2 way through the race, we didn't know what the problem was until after he was done
** - the 1p Heat was shortened to 22:05 because a trainer rubbed a wire and caused a power surge (and a whole bunch of sparks)
*** - Monty's watts are accurate but his distance is not, I accidentally gave him a weight of 0 lbs.
Congratulations to our winners - John Arneson & Jeanie Bell!
There were plenty of strong performance and everyone should be proud of their results.
Photos from the event are posted in a gallery on the MTC Facebook page.
Be part of an MTC Annual Tradition. The Resolution Run is now in its 9th year. Hope everyone can come for this "Fun Run."

As an athlete I have been using trainingpeaks.com since 2001. The software has progressed and improved dramatically since then. Now it is without a doubt the best training log and coaching software available.
Every new MTC-coached client gets a "Basic" Training Peaks account that we use to set their schedule and is where they upload their activities. The upload process has gotten very simple now that Garmin Connect can be sync'd with Training Peaks. All coached athletes must have some type of GPS/HR Monitor and since most athletes are using a Garmin unit such as the Garmin 920xt which has Bluetooth/WiFi capabilities the process of uploading files is now automatic.
Within trainingpeaks.com there are two types of athlete accounts, Basic and Premium. (As I Coach I have all the features of a Premium account plus some other bells and whistles.)
For an athlete there are two main benefits of upgrading:
On occasion Training Peaks offers a discount on their "Premium" account, saving some $$ on an annual subscription. In honor of Cyber Monday they are offering such a discount so I wanted to let everyone know - www.trainingpeaks.com
In 2007 when I launched Midwest Triathlon Coaching I created a blogspot location. Obviously technology has improved a lot since then, so with the new website being started in November 2015 I felt it was appropriate to bring the Updates/Blog location onto the new site as well.
If you are interested in looking back through the old blog it is available at http://midwesttriathloncoaching.blogspot.com
